Loren Aragon is a fashion designer from Acoma Pueblo, New Mexico and CEO of ACONAV. Aragon’s introduction to the arts at an early age maintained a connection to the Acoma culture throughout his academic and professional career as a mechanical engineer. Living outside his community led to a number of new experiences as it allowed Aragon to observe a necessity to preserve the culture of his people and inspire future artistic generations. Loren’s work is the result of a combination of artistic vision and technological discipline. The application of traditional and modern ideas has allowed Aragon to discover an avenue to express his artistic talents while preserving culture through fashion design. ACONAV has become a leading Native Fashion brand that celebrates the strength and empowerment of women worldwide. Today, the culturally fueled designs of Aragon continue to gain recognition, creating an awareness to the growing popularity of Native Fashion.

“I have loved fashion ever since I was young. I used to buy every fashion magazine out there just to help me live in my own fashion dreamland, because I felt that the world around me was clearly missing something. Then later when I joined the London School of Fashion, I finally realized what the problem was. You see, all the models were just under one category, and there was no cultural or ethnic diversity being promoted at the time. And so I decided to create my own brand to represent the underrated modest yet trendy chic. Modest Theyab is here to inspire all women out there to walk with confidence and to proudly present their own unique identities.” – Hadeer Amin

Amiel Noble was born and raised in the Philippines by his mother who works as an embroiderer of the traditional dress and his farmer father.
Being exposed to the culture of embroidery, particularly Barong Tagalog and Filipiniana making (traditional Filipino dresses), it is his purpose to continue and spread the beauty of their culture by presenting their national identity to the world through their national dresses. This is also for the younger generation to be proud of their own tradition and at the same time preserve the art of traditional embroidery and skills to make Barong Tagalog and Filipiniana dresses by providing stable jobs to the embroiderers and proliferating the use of the fabrics painstakingly woven traditionally in our country.
“The love for Thai culture and the eagerness to preserve the beauty in its tradition run deeply in my blood and one day I promised myself that I will make the world acknowledge what I am in love with. First I started this business at Fairfax and Melrose Sunday market. After a while, I opened a shop called “Phukaw” at Main St. In Santa Monica then moved to Hollywood Blvd two years later. I hosted many shows for the Thai community such as The Thai New Year’s fashion shows and The Thai Chamber of Commerce in 2015. As most memorable, I had a chance to show my beautiful designs in Santa Monica pier earlier in 2015 and it was an amazing success. I also designed for Miss Asia U.S.A. in 2014 and Miss Teen Asia U.S.A. in 2015 and they both won Best National Costume. I also won an award for Best Designer of the Year from Virgelia Production in 2015. The Virgelia Production Haute Couture Fashion show in late 2016 was my most successful showcase featuring alongside 3 other designers. We have all kinds of Thai costumes from children’s costumes, beauty pageant wear to wedding dress sets for brides and grooms, and the bride’s mate & groom’s man. We provide casual Thai traditional outfits for attending temples and formal events. The Hill Tribes styles are from the Northern part of Thailand. The Phukaw bring in the mix of the Akah, Yao, Hmong, Karen long neck tribe, and Ekor tribes clothing to the store. All the materials are at least 30-40 years old. We had the merchandise cleaned sanitarily for customers’ health conditions before displaying at the store. We then have them handmade the clothes to our designs.” – Yaya Aksarapak Bondu, Designer and Founder.
